- LA SALLE TO REPRESENT SABAH
Kota Kinabalu: SM La Salle is in the news again. Its original play "Nico's Barber Shop", which highlights current issues faced by most teenagers in this era, and calls for patience in facing challenges in life, won the hearts of the judges at divisional level.
Representing the Kota Kinabalu Division, it outshone four other participating divisions - Sandakan, Kota Marudu, Beaufort and Lahad Datu - to emerge champion in the recent 4th State-level Inter-Secondary School English Drama Competition.
The school with performers from Forms Two to Five created history by wresting the State championship title for the first time from defending State champion, SM Sung Siew, Sandakan. The latter with its play "The Synambolist" was relegated to the first runner-up position. SM Sung Siew is the runner-up in the 2005 National-level Competition.
The competition was held at SMK Tandek, Kota Marudu, organized by the Education Department's Kota Marudu Division.
This month, SM La salle will represent Sabah (in Zone D) in the upcoming Zone level competing against Sarawak and Federal Territory of Labuan in Sarawak. The winner will represent East Malaysia in the national finals expected to be held in Melaka in August this year.
The four winning teams from Zone A, Zone B, Zone C and Zone D will vie for national honours.
