

The La Salle Board of Management or simply known as SM La Salle Management Committee was set up circa the year 1970 to help the school administration, i.e. Principal and staff, to manage the school as a mission school in compliance with the Education Act, as stipulated by the Ministry of Education, and under the authority of His Lordship, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kota Kinabalu.
Its function is to help to maintain the character of the school and to assist it in the maintenance of its buildings and properties. The Board of Management also assists to make available new facilities and extensions to provide for the ever increasing number of students so as to enable them to keep abreast with the advancing trends in education.
The first Chairman of the Board was the late Datuk Fong Peng Loi, who served in that capacity until he retired in 1986. He was succeeded by Datuk Stanislaus Yee and then by Datuk Seri Panglima Fred Jinu, who retired in the year 2000. Datuk Seri Panglima Fred Jinu was succeeded by Datuk Richard Gunting, who served for three years. The present incumbent is Mr. Ho Kin Wong. Assisting him in the Board are the following members, Datuk Brother Charles O’Leary, Datuk Terence Chong, Mr. Michael Moo (Hon. Treasurer), Mr. Melvin Disimond and Mr. Ernesto Faurillo (Hon. Secretary). The school is represented by Puan Julia Willie Jock (school Principal) and Puan Mariana Tseu and the Alumni Association by Mr. Herman Yee (President).
During this period of some 25 years since the setting up of the Board, tremendous changes and developments were accomplished especially in the physical aspects which have made S M La Salle one of the premier schools in Sabah.
All in all, the Board of Management, the school’s Administration, the Parents-Teachers Association and the school’s Alumni Association have all worked closely together as one family to provide a holistic education for the past and present students of S M La Salle.
