Sabah may have finally found a potent idea weapon to move persistent and recalcitrant polluters to clean up their acts. That idea weapon is contained in a clever mantra "I see, I clean", which Sabah's La Salle School and Sweden's Grubbe Secondary School, Umea had coined under their global environmental partnership which began in 2010.
It certainly had done the job for SM La Salle, Tanjung Aru, as City Hall recently certified it a "litter-free" school, as Principle Julia Willie Jock used it to great effect. Principal said email and exchange visits between teachers of the two schools to share and adopt best practices since 2010 have helped shape a strategic thrust at the school to educate teachers first and teach students subsequently to live by a sustainable way of life.
